Survival is no longer just about farming. It's about surviving the day.
HBtech Survival System is an ambitious survival and roleplay modification for Farming Simulator 22. Its goal is to bring a new layer of realism to everyday farm life, where food, water, rest, hygiene, health and mental well-being become interconnected parts of gameplay.
Developed by HBtech Modding, the project aims to create an immersive survival experience in which the player's daily habits, decisions and overall condition matter.
Current development
🍞 Food and supplies
The project includes development of a food system designed to make eating part of everyday gameplay. Support is planned for common food items such as bread, eggs, butter, milk, salads and tomatoes.
💧 Water and hydration
Hydration is a core part of the survival concept. The project includes water-detection development and a dedicated water bottle model carrying the HBtech identity. The bottle is intended to be refillable at wells and suitable water sources.
🛏️ Sleep and recovery
Rest is one of the key pillars of the system. The goal is to make sleep and recovery meaningful parts of a player's daily routine.
🧼 Hygiene and interaction
The project explores washing and hygiene mechanics, including interaction with water. Reliable player-water detection and interaction behaviour are part of the development and testing process.
🖥️ Survival interface
A compact survival HUD is planned to communicate essential player needs without unnecessarily covering the game screen. The longer-term direction includes a more integrated interface for survival information.
Planned survival mechanics
- Food consumption and hunger management.
- Water consumption and dehydration.
- Consequences for neglecting basic survival needs.
- Changes to movement and player condition during severe dehydration.
- Temporary blackout behaviour as a possible consequence of critical dehydration.
- Sleep, rest and recovery.
- Hygiene and washing.
- Interactions with food, water and other usable supplies.
Future development: a fully interconnected survival system
The long-term vision is to expand HBtech Survival System into a complex network of interconnected mechanics rather than a collection of isolated meters.
🩺 Illness and health system
A future illness system is planned to expand the player's physical condition beyond basic hunger and thirst. Illnesses and their consequences could become part of a longer survival process, giving the player additional reasons to maintain good habits and pay attention to their condition.
🧠 Stress and mental well-being
A dedicated stress system is also planned. The player's mental condition would become another important part of everyday survival, adding depth to demanding workdays and long-term roleplay.
🔗 Interconnected mechanics
The central goal is to connect these systems together. Hunger, dehydration, lack of sleep, poor hygiene, stress and illness should not operate as completely separate features. Instead, they are intended to influence one another and contribute to the player's overall condition.
For example, neglecting rest and hydration could contribute to a worsening overall condition, while illness and stress could introduce further challenges to everyday farm life. The exact triggers, effects and recovery mechanics will be defined and balanced during development.
The ambition is to create a living gameplay loop in which players must manage not only the farm, but also the person working on it.
Long-term vision
Future development may include:
- A more comprehensive illness and recovery system.
- Stress management and mental well-being.
- Stronger connections between physical condition, daily habits and performance.
- Expanded food, water, hygiene and rest interactions.
- Additional usable items and survival-related objects.
- Improved interfaces and more immersive roleplay mechanics.
- A separate Roleplay Friendly edition with a different visual style, models and textures, designed for a more everyday and realistic roleplay experience.
Development status
HBtech Survival System is a work in progress. Features are being developed, tested and refined individually. Planned mechanics are not yet confirmed as implemented, and their final behaviour may change throughout development.
The goal is not to turn Farming Simulator into a completely different game. It is to make everyday farm life more immersive by giving basic needs, health, recovery and personal well-being a meaningful role.
