so im trying to figure why you would get lowered genetics when your animals are breeding, usually it takes the stronger genetics of each parent so why would you get weaker animals from stronger parents? makes breeding for extremely high genetics pointless if your animals can just get worse from better. the whole point of introducing better genes into the herd is to grow the herd stronger not have it do worse
@Styxx405 Math, statistics, and a lot of complex gene interaction. This is how real animal breeding works - and the mod simulates, though simplified. The short version: Each parent carries a mix of "good" and "not so good" genes. A high-producing cow doesn't only have great genes - she also carries some weaker ones that aren't visible in her own stats. When two parents each pass a random half of their genes to the calf, the calf might inherit an unlucky combination and end up worse than either parent. @Fredthefarmer What version are you using? There is probably a conflict with another mod you have. I have added detection of some incompatible mods in the newest version, but there are probably more out there.
