@evilpotato Hey, there! This is not an official release of my mod and is before it was certified for modHub, so there are two versions of the same mod on here. I wasn't aware version 1.0.0.4 was even on here, but with the new 2.0.0.0 version Onions will be included along with any crops added to the save. They are not present in the default config.XML but that doesn't matter. They will be registered in the per-save XML if present in that save. You can use the feature to update the default.xml to your preferred default set up if you wish.
