The 1948 F-series (F-1 Half-Ton, F-2 Three-Quarter Ton and F-3 Heavy Duty) was Ford's first all-new line of vehicles after World War II.
The new trucks, named "Bonus Built", were introduced on January 16, 1948.
Ford had been producing trucks since 1925, but this was a big change for Ford.
The F-Series would no longer be a car-based pickup.
The 1948 F-series trucks were most notable for their design, while most chassis and mechanicals
carried over from previous models, the engine being considerably improved.
Despite this, the trucks had the rugged durability that a work vehicle needed.
They came standard with a 95 hp straight-six engine called "Red 226".
For more power, buyers had the option of using a 100 hp flathead V8 engine called Rouge 239.

Ford marketed this new truck as the "Million Dollar Cab" because they spent over $1,000,000 to redesign the cab.
The cab was used on all eight F-Series trucks.
The cabin was more comfortable and spacious than the previous cabin.
It was seven inches wider, the doors were wider, it had more headroom and legroom, and it offers other things like larger gauges, a sun visor, and an ashtray.
There was also the optional "Spiralounge Seat", a unique driver's seat with a special hydraulic damper and spring that could be adjusted to the driver's weight.
